Bilateral Cooperation at the Heart of a Security Meeting

The Prime Minister met this Friday, May 10, with Brazil's Ambassador Luís Fernando De Carvalho and the Commander-in-Chief of the Haitian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Derby Guerrier. This meeting is part of strengthening bilateral cooperation in security, defense, and institutional support.

The Prime Minister praised « the commitment of Brazil in favor of stability in Haiti, while reaffirming the Government's will to strengthen this collaboration in a spirit of mutual respect, national sovereignty, and regional solidarity ».

Another issue discussed during the meeting was the question of the upcoming elections. According to the head of government, the re-establishment of security is an essential condition for the smooth conduct of the electoral process.

As such, the transitional government relies on the importance of support from international partners, including Brazil, « in efforts aimed at creating a favorable climate for free, inclusive, and credible elections ».
