During a press conference held on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Port-au-Prince, the political party Chemen Delivrans denounced the failure of the current transition in Haiti and proposed new governance led by a judge from the Court of Cassation.
The political party Chemen Delivrans assessed the current governance as a failure during a press conference held this Monday. According to its leaders, the promises of the transition led successively by Ariel Henry, then by the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), have not been kept, leaving the country in chaos.
Speaking on behalf of the directorate, Professor Celiscar Jean Élysée recalled a series of political consultations initiated shortly after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse on July 7, 2021. According to him, these discussions aimed to entrust the leadership of the state to a judge from the Court of Cassation, within a framework of political consensus. This option was discarded, he regrets, in favor of arrangements that led to a deadlock.
A Failed Transition
For the Chemen Delivrans party, the transition established through the September 11 agreement and continued under the aegis of the CPT after the April 3 agreement, has neither curbed insecurity nor improved citizens' living conditions. “The country is further plunged into misery, gangs control vast areas, and institutions remain dysfunctional,” denounced Celiscar Jean Élysée.
The political leader deplores the blindness of many actors who supported the formation of the CPT, believing that it has brought nothing concrete since its establishment. “The chaos has worsened,” he asserted.
Towards a New Transition Proposal
Given this assessment, Chemen Delivrans proposes a change of direction. The party calls for the establishment of a new transition, this time led by a judge from the Court of Cassation. He states that this proposal has been discussed with other political forces, such as Unifos and KLE, with a view to achieving broad consensus.
“There is peril in the house. It is time for political actors to gather, engage in serious dialogue, and agree on a new path,” pleaded Professor Jean Élysée, who insists on the urgency of institutional refoundation.
Call for Citizen Mobilization
Beyond political proposals, the Chemen Delivrans party invites the population to remain vigilant and mobilize. According to its leaders, only a citizen awakening could put an end to the current transition, which they deem sterile, and pave the way for a more stable future.
“The CPT will in no way be able to present a positive assessment of the past 48 months. A peaceful overthrow and a new credible transition are needed,” concludes Chemen Delivrans.
