Forceful Offensive in Marassa: Haitian National Police Neutralizes 'Viv Ansanm' Members and Razes Molotov Cocktail Depot

CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS, Haiti.— The Haitian National Police (PNH) announced this Friday, February 27, that it had neutralized several individuals presented as members of the criminal coalition 'Viv Ansanm' during an operation conducted in Carrefour Marassa, in the Cul-de-Sac plain.

According to information released by the police institution's Communication Directorate, the intervention began around 7:30 AM, in response to an attack attributed to armed groups active in the area. The units involved, supported by a specialized Task Force, were reportedly placed on maximum alert due to the resurgence of violence in this strategic sector.

Exchanges of fire pitted law enforcement against the assailants. Several armed individuals were neutralized during the clashes, the police indicated, without providing a detailed numerical toll or information on potential losses among security forces.

During the operation, officers also discovered and destroyed a Molotov cocktail depot. These homemade incendiary devices were reportedly used by armed groups to attack patrols and set fire to equipment belonging to law enforcement, according to the same source.

The PNH also stated that it had filled ditches dug by gangs to impede the progress of police vehicles on certain strategic routes. These obstacles were reportedly put in place to slow down interventions and maintain territorial control in several parts of the area.

This operation is part of the offensives undertaken by the PNH to regain control of neighborhoods under the influence of armed groups in the Cul-de-Sac plain, a scene of repeated clashes in recent months. Police authorities reiterate their determination to continue actions aimed at restoring security and dismantling criminal networks operating in the region.
