The Head of Government Suspends All Subsidies Within Public Administration

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé has decided to suspend, until further notice, the granting of subsidies within public administration, except with special authorization from the Primature. The measure was communicated via a circular dated Tuesday, January 27, 2026, addressed to all state authorizing officers.

In the document, the head of government instructs the heads of public institutions to refrain from any decision involving subsidies, and reminds them of the obligation to strictly comply with the directive. 'All authorizing officers, each in their respective capacity, are responsible for ensuring strict observance of this directive,' specifies the circular signed by the Prime Minister.

No details were provided on the duration of the measure or the criteria for granting potential special authorizations. The Primature also did not indicate whether this decision is part of a budgetary readjustment framework or public expenditure control.

This suspension comes in a political context marked by tensions between the Primature and some members of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), as a majority of the Council recently expressed its desire to terminate the Prime Minister's functions.

Until further notice, public institutions are required to comply with this directive, under the direct responsibility of the authorizing officers.
