The Referendum Text Will Finally Be Unveiled

The constitutional reform project and the decree for the referendum text will be presented to the next Council of Ministers on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. This was announced by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé at the beginning of the weekend, in the South of the country. The steering committee will submit the document to the government this week for debate and adoption.

Recalling the three main pillars of the transition—security, the referendum, and elections—the Head of Government stated his commitment to “guaranteeing public order throughout the national territory” during a meeting with administrative and security authorities from the four departments of the Grand Sud: Sud, Sud-Est, Grand’Anse, and Nippes.

Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by several members of his government, met on Friday with representatives of UN Women and UNESCO. Discussions focused on the involvement of civil society, including international partners, in the electoral process aimed at rebuilding the state and restoring citizen trust.
