The three Presidential Advisors temporarily cleared of all legal proceedings

The verdict was delivered in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The Port-au-Prince Court of Appeal annulled the proceedings initiated against the three Presidential Advisors, Emmanuel Vertilaire, Smith Augustin, and Louis Gérald Gilles, in the Banque Nationale de Crédit (BNC) case.

Magistrate Benjamin Benjamin Félismé had indicted the CPs for alleged corruption concerning the bank and issued summonses against them.

The Court recalled that as Presidential Advisors, enjoying presidential prerogatives, they are not subject to ordinary courts.
