Three Coordinators, Three Catastrophic Records, One Country: What is the True Agenda of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT)?

Since its creation in April 2024, the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT), intended to lead Haiti towards stability and democratic elections, has accumulated failures. Three coordinators – Edgard Leblanc Fils, Leslie Voltaire, and Fritz Jean – have succeeded one another, each leaving behind a heavy and unconvincing record. A Rotation Without Vision Under Edgard Leblanc Fils, insecurity exploded. Gangs extended their control over the capital, while the state struggled to respond. With Leslie Voltaire, the CPT plunged into controversy: the hasty dismissal of Prime Minister Garry Conille, a change of government, and increased internal divisions. Fritz Alphonse Jean, the latest, is trying to restart dialogue, but tensions and suspicions of corruption continue to weaken the Council. Scandals That Tarnish Accusations of embezzlement, opaque contracts, and favoritism target several CPT members. The image of this already fragile transitional body is deeply tarnished. Public trust, meanwhile, erodes further each day. A Vague Agenda, An Uncertain Transition The succession of opaque decisions, the lack of tangible results, and the absence of public communication fuel suspicions: does the CPT truly serve the national interest, or is it acting for its own interests? With only a few months until the scheduled deadline for organizing elections (February 2026), the initial objectives appear out of reach. The Transitional Presidential Council had a unique chance: to embody a moment of rupture, to chart a new path, to restore hope to a wounded country. For now, it has only been a pale repetition of a political theater well-known in Haiti. Three coordinators, three failures, a people abandoned. If the CPT still wants to salvage something of its mission, it urgently needs to change its methods, stance, and ambition. Transparency, accountability, the genuine will to organize credible elections, and to restore security are not options: they are the minimum condition to prevent this transition from being just another failed episode in a long series of institutional drifts.
