Armed Attack in Désarmes: Two Associates of Boisrond Emmanuel Jr Killed and Burned Alive

An attack of rare violence was perpetrated this Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the locality of Vedette, commune of Désarmes, Maurisso area, in the Artibonite department.

Two close collaborators of political activist Boisrond Emmanuel Jr, known as Fénol and Edner, as well as the latter's son, were coldly assassinated before being burned alive by heavily armed individuals belonging to the Canaan gangs. Several houses were also set on fire during this attack.

According to initial information gathered, armed individuals, identified as part of the “Talibans” gangs, entered the area around 6 AM, spreading terror among the population. Fénol, Edner, and his son were killed, and numerous homes were reduced to ashes.

In response to this tragedy, Boisrond Emmanuel Jr strongly denounced the inability of the Artibonite departmental police director, Calerbe Exantus, as well as the inaction of the current government, which he accuses of being responsible for the security crisis ravaging the country. “The Artibonite department is left to fend for itself,” he declared bitterly.

This triple assassination, marked by unheard-of cruelty, once again illustrates the descent into hell of the commune where human life is no longer worth anything.

While the authorities remain silent, Artibonite sinks deeper into chaos every day. How long will citizens have to count their dead in the face of general indifference?
