Sanctioned by the Port-au-Prince Bar Association, committed lawyer Caleb Jean Baptiste presented to the media, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Ritz Kinam hotel, a new political structure named Konviksyon pou Chanjman.
This initiative, which brings together several well-known figures, including journalist Luckner Désire, former Gonaïves mayor Steeven Sain Fleur, and Reverend Pastor Dony Décembre, aims to reinforce the growing number of political parties, despite the absence of a fixed address, a clear political agenda, or a defined program.
To position itself on the political stage, Konviksyon pou Chanjman, led by a provisional directorate, proposes several solutions to contribute to the resolution of the crisis, according to Me Caleb Jean Baptiste.
One of the envisioned scenarios involves electing a single president from the nine members of the Transitional Presidential Council, with figures like Edgard Leblanc Fils or the non-voting advisor Régine Abraham as acceptable profiles for this position.
After the selection and installation of this single president, the signatories and non-signatories of the April 3 agreement, as well as non-aligned actors, will have to agree on the appointment of a consensus Prime Minister to lead a national unity government, specified Caleb Jean Baptiste, current interim secretary-general of Konviksyon pou Chanjman's directorate.
A second conceivable scenario would be to entrust power to a judge of the Court of Cassation.
Furthermore, a six-month extension could be granted to the new CPT general coordinator, Laurent Saint Saint, and the head of government, Alix Didier Fils Aimé, provided they manage to stabilize the country, counter the phenomenon of insecurity, help internally displaced persons return home, and free roads controlled by armed gangs. This last scenario represents one of the various options proposed by this new political team in an attempt to articulate an apparently mixed crisis resolution.
Aware of the gravity of the situation, the members of Konviksyon pou Chanjman believe it is necessary to promote inclusion at this difficult juncture to put the country back on the path to stability.
