Former Haitian National Police DG Frantz Elbé Tapped to Represent Haiti at the Inter-American Defense Board

WASHINGTON.— The former Director General of the Haitian National Police has just opened a new chapter in his career, following his official installation as Haiti's representative to the Inter-American Defense Board. The IADB is an advisory body attached to the Organization of American States (OAS). The position of the former HNP DG grants him, on behalf of his country, Haiti, a significant diplomatic mission within the hemispheric organization. In his first address to the Council of Delegates, Elbé emphasized his commitment to a safer and more united regional space. “It is an honor to join a structure that embodies inter-American military cooperation in the service of peace,” he stated, stressing that his appointment comes at a time when regional security is more under pressure than ever. Frantz Elbé's operational experience at the head of the Haitian National Police, his field knowledge, and his training at the Inter-American Defense College make him one of the best profiles. He should be able to defend Haiti's security interests while integrating into multilateral dynamics. “The IADB is not merely a technical body; it is a space for strategic dialogue and coordination in conflict prevention,” he recalled, emphasizing the importance of strengthening regional partnerships in the face of growing threats, particularly those affecting the Caribbean. On mission in Washington, within the IADB, Elbé will have to make the voice heard of a country struggling in its quest for effective and sustainable solutions, in an increasingly polarized diplomatic environment.
Frantz Elbé's predecessor at the Inter-American Defense Board, Pierre Michel Bonnet, is now stationed at the Haitian Embassy in Mexico.
