Haiti Crisis: The Equilibrist Political Platform Makes Proposals to the CPT

Given the deteriorating socio-political and security situation in the country, proposals for resolving the crisis are multiplying and following one another. In a document sent to the Transitional Presidential Council earlier this week, the Equilibrist platform, aware of the deteriorating Haitian crisis, is making proposals to the CPT with a view to reaching a resolution of the deleterious situation Haiti is experiencing. This proposal concerns governance and security.

Indeed, the Equilibrist platform proposes: A thorough evaluation of each minister's roadmap in relation to the results observed on the ground; A reshuffle of the ministerial cabinet. According to the platform, some ministers are hardly fulfilling their duties in light of the April 3 agreement.

In a conference this Wednesday, the platform's coordinator called for the dismissal of certain ministers and the retention of those whose actions align with the already defined mission.

This structure, led by Me Valery Dutreuil Jacques, also proposes to the council to strengthen the legitimacy of the Transitional Presidential Council. «Dialogue with political actors, antagonists, those in the opposition», advocates Me Jacques. While acknowledging that governance errors have been committed by the ruling team, the Equilibrist members believe that with a real will from political authorities, changes can be made.

On the security front

The Equilibrist platform, faithful to the April 3 agreement, proposes that authorities take measures to ensure continuous training for police and army personnel; to strengthen the material capacity of the police institution; to seek support from the international community, friendly countries of Haiti, and certain international institutions such as the UN, the European Union, among others. The Equilibrist platform encourages everyone to advocate for change in the country.

Furthermore, the coordinator of the political movement invites all responsible citizens to play their part in the face of this predicament. «Haiti can revive if we unite all our forces», he acknowledges.
