Haiti-Health: 70 Nurses Appointed to Strengthen Health System

Port-au-Prince, August 6, 2025 – The Haitian government has officially appointed 70 nurses from the 2023 and 2024 state examination graduating classes. The ceremony took place at the Primature, in the presence of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Sinal Bertrand. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the MSPP, aims to recognize merit and strengthen health personnel, particularly in the provinces. The Director of Nursing Care, Karine R. Jean-Baptiste, commended the commitment of the honorees, who are now called to « touch humanity » through their service. On behalf of the newly appointed nurses, Miss Amaling Lucceus expressed their pride and thanked the authorities, emphasizing that this recognition marks a turning point in their professional journey. For his part, Minister Sinal Bertrand announced that 600 new assignments are planned, including midwives, pharmacists, technicians, and other agents. He emphasized his ministry's three priorities: access to care, support for the most vulnerable — particularly pregnant women — and prevention through awareness. Prime Minister Fils-Aimé affirmed that these appointments are the result of merit and academic excellence, before encouraging the young professionals to serve with honor. He stated that he is ready to validate other appointments in the sector. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of letters and a solemn oath by the new nurses to serve with integrity and professionalism.
