Health: The MSPP Equips Health Facilities to Strengthen its Vaccination Campaign

PORT-AU-PRINCE.— Hospital officials in the metropolitan region received medical equipment on Saturday, June 28, from the Ministry of Public Health and Population. An initiative by Minister Bertrand Sinal as part of the intensified fight against the resurgence of vaccine-preventable diseases, particularly in refugee camps, explained a statement from the MSPP.

More than 500 health facilities across the country will be equipped to improve access, quality, and continuity of services, especially in remote areas. They will have received medical furniture, ventilation equipment, communication and awareness materials, and tools for field logistics, the statement mentioned.

This initiative, it is read, is part of strengthening the Expanded Program on Immunization in Haiti. According to the Ministry's Communication office, it is supported by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Government of Canada (via GAVI).

“Providing these basic tools means restoring dignity to caregivers and strengthening the effectiveness of public service,” said Dr. Bertrand Sinal, emphasizing the importance of this support to motivate health professionals, often on the front lines in difficult conditions.

Meanwhile, the director of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) took the opportunity to highlight the crucial importance of vaccination in preventing epidemics and the authorities' commitment to ensuring children's good health. “Vaccination remains one of the safest ways to protect children against potentially fatal diseases,” insisted Dr. Martial Benêche.

He invited parents and guardians of children to play their part and thus contribute to this collective effort to improve the population's health.
