PNH: Intensification of Offensives Against Gangs, Without Neutralizing Formidable Leaders

The Haitian National Police (PNH) is intensifying its operations to retake areas controlled by armed gangs, with the use of kamikaze drones and the deployment of specialized units. Recent offensives have targeted the Kraze Baryè gang, led by Vitelhomme Innocent, resulting in the neutralization of several criminals and the seizure of weapons.

A major operation in Kenscoff dislodged bandits from the Téléco premises, causing about twenty deaths on the assailant side and numerous confiscations. The mayor of Kenscoff calls for a continuous presence of the PNH and the extension of operations to rural areas.

However, no major gang leader, such as Jimmy Chérizier, Wilson Joseph, or Ti Lapli, has been arrested. Local stakeholders believe that the PNH's strategies will remain ineffective as long as main roads are not secured and displaced persons cannot return home. Meanwhile, the criminal coalition Viv Ansanm is strengthening its grip by distributing money to displaced persons.

The new director general of the PNH faces high expectations from the population to restore peace and security.
