Protest against insecurity in Gonaïves

In response to the accelerated deterioration of the security climate in Haut-Artibonite, several dozen citizens protested this Wednesday in the city of independence to denounce the inaction of authorities in the face of the growing grip of gangs.

Organized at the initiative of several civil society organizations, this peaceful mobilization aimed to demand the immediate revocation of Caleb Exantus, departmental director of the PNH, accused by protesters of collusion with armed groups attempting to control the region.

According to the protesters, since Divisional Commissioner Caleb Exantus took office, no significant operation has been undertaken to dislodge the bandits operating in the area. These individuals continue to impose their law, thereby reinforcing the feeling of abandonment among the population.
