The MENFP Union Demands Justice for Wanderson Zamy

A week after the tragic death of Wanderson Zamy, a 19-year-old high school graduate and rising social media figure, the union of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) expresses its indignation at the authorities' handling of the case.

On August 18, during a peaceful demonstration by trainee teachers demanding payment of their salary arrears and their letters of appointment, Wanderson Zamy was fatally shot while riding a motorcycle near the MENFP premises in Delmas 83. According to available information, a ministry security agent reportedly opened fire to disperse the crowd, accidentally hitting the young man.

In response to this tragedy, Garry Lapierre, president of the union, denounces the behavior of MENFP officials whom he accuses of trying to minimize the incident. He also criticizes the decision to provisionally suspend fifteen ministry security agents as part of the ongoing investigation, believing that these measures do not address the seriousness of the situation.

The union demands a thorough and transparent investigation to establish responsibilities and insists on the need for justice to be rendered to Wanderson Zamy's family. Furthermore, Garry Lapierre claims to have been the target of intimidation due to his demands regarding abuses suffered by ministry employees.
