The Prime Minister in the South to Explore Local Security Avenues

CAYES, Haiti.— Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé is visiting this Wednesday morning, May 7, in the southern department as part of an official mission focused on local security, Le Relief online newspaper learned from a statement by the Prime Minister's Office. He landed on the tarmac of the freshly expanded Antoine Simon International Airport.

“This trip is part of a strategic approach aimed at activating Municipal Security Units (CSM), an innovative mechanism designed to strengthen local security, in close collaboration with local authorities and the population,” the Prime Minister's Office informed.

During his visit to the South, the activities planned for this official mission will be coordinated in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior and Local Authorities (MICT), due to its central role in the coordination and implementation of this initiative, which the Prime Minister's office describes as “ambitious.”

The official delegation was welcomed by a team of local communities, carrying the hopes and, above all, the trust of the local populations, regarding the stakes represented by the reasons for this visit.

Delegations from civil society, regional dignitaries, representatives of community organizations, as well as local authorities are present to discuss with the head of government, during a series of meetings illustrating a clear and shared commitment from the ruling team.

“Working together, at all levels, to restore peace, strengthen local governance, and build a lasting response to insecurity,” the statement advocates, reaffirming the government's commitment to dialogue, consultation, and proximity with the population, in order to effectively address current security challenges.
