Tragedy in Liancourt: The Transitional Presidential Council Condemns

In a statement released on the morning of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Transitional Presidential Council strongly condemns the tragedy that occurred in Artibonite this Tuesday, where 3 police officers lost their lives. The presidency describes this act as barbaric and inhumane.

« The Transitional Presidential Council most firmly condemns the barbaric and inhumane act perpetrated in the Artibonite department, which cost the lives of three (3) of our valiant police officers from the departmental law enforcement unit: Jean Louis Daniel, Dareus Daniel, and Fegensly Mertus.

The Transitional Presidential Council humbly bows before the mortal remains of these worthy sons of the nation and expresses its condolences and deep solidarity with the bereaved families, their loved ones, as well as the entire Haitian National Police.

While announcing that the Council will do everything possible to bring justice to the victims, the CPT instructs the head of the CSPN, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils Aimé, to mobilize all necessary resources available to the government to establish the facts and honor the memory of these national police officers, victims of this tragedy.

It should be recalled that in January 2023, 6 police officers were killed in Liancourt by armed bandits operating in the region.
