Every time Haiti tries to rise, to chart a path towards change, an invisible hand holds it back, pulls it down. A devious hand that manipulates, that destroys all our efforts for unity, all our hopes for peace. What hurts the most is not a distant enemy, but our brothers and sisters, our friends, our neighbors — it is ourselves. With each attempt at gathering, division grows, violent and dark, like a storm that refuses to let the moonlight shine.
Let's take the example of the Prime Minister and the Director General of the Haitian National Police: two men who, side by side, embody an image of peace, reconciliation, and solidarity. Instead of applauding, instead of the people finding a breath of hope, we hear only noise and contempt. As if peace disturbed them. As if some could not sleep if Haitians did not tear each other apart as brothers, if they did not betray, if they did not tarnish their own name.
Look at the fight against insecurity. For the first time since the crisis intensified, the Government is allying with law enforcement to curb violence and crime. And what do we see? Bitter criticism, contempt, unfounded accusations on social media, repeated lies without the slightest proof, without reflection. Yet, all of this is done for our security, so that we can walk freely on our own land. And we are not even capable of saying 'thank you' to them?
The Sunrise Airways case is the ultimate stab in the back. When the State deploys all its efforts to facilitate the mobility of our people, instead of celebrating this progress, we hear only slanders, unjustified attacks, unfounded criticisms. As if everything positive became a threat to certain personal interests.
What does all this say about us?
It is high time for the Haitian people to open their eyes. We must stop letting those who defend personal interests use us as pawns. Division leads nowhere. Our strength lies in our unity. We are tired of 'get out of the way, let me do it my way.' We can no longer continue to drag ourselves down to satisfy those who revel in our downfall.
We must sit together, hand in hand, as one people, one nation. Today, we no longer need empty words, but genuine actions, sincere love, profound solidarity. Only at this price can we raise our heads, sow hope, and build the Haiti we all dream of.
Abraham said: 'Enough is enough.' It's our turn to say, loud and clear: 'Enough is enough.' Enough jealousy. Enough divisions. Enough betrayals. Let's choose unity — for it is the only path that leads to life.
